       Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to attend the 8th Annual Congress of the Turkish Thoracic Society (TTS) which will be held on 27 April – 1 May 2005 in Kemer. Until now the Turkish Thoracic Society has organized 7 Annual Meetings and we are very pleased that there is an increasing participation of both national and foreign colleagues year by year. In this congress, we will be discussing recent advances in respiratory medicine as well as regional and global problems related to lung health with the participation of speakers from Europe, USA and regional countries.

We have new formats in the scientific program of this year’s congress. Six plenary sessions, two of them taking place each day, will be organized. Twelve clinical consultation centers will be opened for each study group to discuss clinical problems and cases and share experiences. In addition, 150 sessions will be held, including 10 symposia, 12 roundtable sessions, 18 sunrise seminars, 12 “meet the professor” sessions, 3 case presentations, 2 pro-con discussions, 3 hot topics and 10 postgraduate courses. Mini symposia and poster discussion sessions will also be held, with the general aim of reaching a high level of participation and discussion.

Antalya, the site of TTS 2005, is located in the southern coast of Turkey and is one of the oldest inhabited places of Anatolia. The city hosts numerous national and international organizations including artistic, cultural and scientific activities by combining the advantages of its unique national and historical heritage with modern city life.

So mark your calendar for TTS 2005 and plan to join us for sharing both scientific and social experiences.
